To the average person, these social media icons represent a great outlet to effectively connect with others and waste a whole lot of time. To business owners, these icons represent an opportunity to reach out to a vast array of potential clients in the most timely and cost efficient manner ever created.

Here are five tips to take full advantage of social media for your lawn care business:

1. Spark interest with images

Why would someone want lawn care services in the first place? Because they care about aesthetics.

The human eye glazes over when faced with a huge block of letters. Vivid images, on the other hand, can really draw the eye and spark interest. You can use this to your advantage by sharing pictures of your lawncare on social media. Your pictures of beautifully manicured lawns will show people the type of lawn that they didn't know they wanted...until now!

Try using a variety of images that portray...

  • Different types of jobs that your business can do.
  • The job process.
  • Smiling faces of your friendly crew.
  • Lots of beautiful lawns.

2. Be consistent

Make regular posts on social media to keep people involved, but don't make so many posts that people unfollow you.

A great way to keep consistent is to post on the same days of the week. That way, people know to expect a post from you, and you are more likely to gain and keep followers.

You should also be aware of the days that get the most traffic and respond by posting interesting content on those days. It is always good to post in the mornings during the work week because a lot of people browse social media when they are supposed to be working!

3. Ask questions and interact

Make it into a community, which is what social media is all about. People don't want facts spewed at them; they want to have a conversation.

To achieve this, you should first create a profile for your company that involves names and faces of you and your staff. This personifies your company and helps people get to know you.

Next, ask questions about customer lawncare preferences, needs, and styles, which is incidentally good information to collect anyway.

Lastly, you should always respond to the questions and comments of your customers on social media. You never know if instagram is the only impression that they have of your company, and you want it to be a good impression.

4. Be concise (between 80-200 characters)

Say what is most important and most attention grabbing. If people are interested then they will do more research.

Put yourself in the place of your audience. You are scrolling down. If you see something interesting, you pause for a second then move on. You don't feel like spending a lot of energy reading, and you want answers instantly.

To grab your audience and make them pause a second longer, you need to think what is the most important thing you want to say. That is all your audience wants to read, and if they are interested enough to learn more, they will click on your website.

5. Offer incentives for your audience to interact with you.

"Free fertilizer for the first five people who re-tweet this! #nameofyourlawncarebusiness"

"Photo Contest! Send us a picture of your most out of control trees/shrubs, and we will trim them for free!"

The possibilities are endless.

This is so important for getting your company name out on social media. Who doesn't like free? For the few free services that you give away, a lot more people will be sharing and re-posting your content to try to win. You could be earning a lot more views and potential clients.
