5 Android Apps to Use in your Field Service Business

5_Android_Apps_to_Use_in_your_Field_Service_Business.jpg

It may seem as if there is an app for everything these days - and there probably is. This fact alone can make it difficult to figure out the ones that are actually useful to you and your workday, not to mention the ones that will be beneficial to your field service business. We have scoured the ends of the earth - ok, ok, I mean internet - to find these Android apps that could really help your business and that will work with and even enhance your field service software.  Drum roll please...

EverNote

If you are anything like me, you need something to organize your thoughts. EverNote is a great note-taking app that keeps everything from to-do lists to lengthy agendas in one clean and organized place. The app also allows you to collect notes, photos and articles, so if a part is missing or needs to be ordered and you are crunched for time, snap a pic and go back to it later.

Locale

With field service software, you create an ease that just doesn't exist with heaps of paperwork and manual work orders. I think that a field service software's best companion would be a mapping app. Locale is a great app because it has GPS like Google maps, but it has so much more to offer. It can change your phone settings based on where you are; home- loud, work- silent. If your battery level is low, locale will turn off power-swallowing components, talk about a smart app.

Bump

This application is outrageously impressive. It allows you to exchange contact information or photos between your phone and another just by physically bumping them together. Brilliant. The app rids you of paper business cards and not only works for Android, but with iPhone as well. This one is specifically similar to field service in that it rids you of paper address books and business cards, welcome to the 21st century.

iHeartRadio

Music applications are wildly popular. This application is great because you can listen to live radio stations, including NPR if you need your news intake for the day. If you're out of town on business and can't pick up your favorite local station, the iHeartRadio app makes it possible to listen wherever you are.

Google Voice

Google Voice is a native app, as opposed to cloud-based that allows you to unify phone numbers, get SMS messages by email and much more. This app would be helpful for field technicians if they need to get calls on their personal cell phones, but could be routed back to an office phone as well. It also uses a different "Google number" to send and receive calls so that if technicians aren't supplied work cell phones, they don't have to use their personal number. The best thing about Google Voice however, is that it's free!
