Protect Your Mobile Field Service Devices

mobile field serviceSo you just bought new devices for your office.  You have been needing them for months and finally were able to purchase these awesome new gadgets. Congrats!  Now go buy a case and quick!

Sorry, I didn’t mean to yell, but I had to get my point across.  Protect your mobile field service devices ASAP.  You probably just spent a good chunk of change on these new devices and all it takes is one drop for the screen to crack.  Check out these field device case providers below and pick up a case before your guys in the field cause irreparable damage to those new beauties.

  1. Otterbox  (Price Range: $15-$100)
Otterbox provides cases for everything from iPhones to Androids, smart phones to tablets.  They offer every color and shape you could think of and even have “dry boxes” which can store your device if you work around water a lot.  I suggest the DEFENDERSERIES or the IMPACTSERIES.  Both are extremely robust and protected to withstand drops, bumps, and shocks.  Plus, the IMAPCTSERIES is textured for a better grip.  Click here for their website.
  2. Speck   (Price Range: $20-$130)
I actually use a Speck case for my iPhone right now.  It has lasted over two years and I think I only paid about $18 for it.  I have been very pleased thus far!  Plus, they offer cases for all types of smart phones and tablets, so if I ever change devices, I know I can still buy products from them.  What makes Speck perfect for the field service industry are their “HandyShell” cases.  These cases have flip out handles which make it possible to hold your device with one hand, hang it from a hook, prop it on your desk or dashboard, or set it on your lap.  The possibilities are endless and it makes it easier to have a device you don’t need to hold with two hands all the time. Click here for their website.
  3. Case-Mate  (Price Range: $18-$60)
Case-Mate offers a line specifically intending to be rugged.  I like these because they have certain cases that have a protective lay flat design.  This way when you place your device screen down, it is still protected.  Plus they offer many that slide in and out of pockets easily which is huge if your guys in the field keep their phones in their pockets. The main point here is to buy a protective case.  I don’t care if you want to buy the flashiest looking case, or the bulkiest case, just buy a case.  You and your techs can’t afford to be out a day due to a broken device.  And let’s face it.  Accidents happen.  People drop their devices all the time and sometimes they get lucky and walk away without a scratch, while others end up with just pieces of their once beautiful device.  So do yourself a favor and pick up a case.  You’ll have peace of mind that you won’t be needing to buy a new device anytime in the near future.
