You just finished your busy startup season. How'd it go? If you found you were overburdened - which caused mistakes and angry customers - read on! We've got tips on how to streamline your startups next spring to help your irrigation business run more efficiently.

Install irrigation business software

We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again: software saves time, stress, money, and trees. Organize your company’s calendar, customer base, and more all in one application with HindSite’s irrigation busiess software and get ready for the most organized irrigation startup you’ve ever had.

Pre-Schedule Customers in an efficient manner

Beat the heat! When planning, earlier is always better. In the future, plan to start promoting your startup services as soon as the snow starts melting. While people aren’t typically thinking of their lawns when snow is still on the ground, you definitely should be. Send out reminder post cards and emails to customers early to ensure that you have a full calendar—and satisfied customers—come summer.

Use Email instead of or in addition to postcards to notify customers

It can be hard to get on a customer’s radar when they are balancing family, work, and a full plate of other obligations. That is why it is best to reach out to your customer base in a variety of ways. While postcards could easily get pushed to the side or buried among other documents, they could be a great option for customers who need a physical document to remind them. While email might not be the best way to reach a client who doesn’t have Internet at home, it could be the best way to reach a customer who is always on the go and gets notifications on their phone. While not every customer has a Facebook and likes your page, a Facebook post could be a great way to reach your social-media savvy clients. What we mean is, what gets one person’s attention, might not get another’s. That is why it’s so important to rely on multiple methods of promoting your startup business.

Use mobile field service software to collect information in the field that can help you sell more services

Don’t finish a sale until you gather your customer’s email, address, and phone number! Make sure to follow up with them about additional services through email, social media, or postcards in the near future. While not every customer will jump at every service, it is well worth your time to check back in with them. As you are well aware, irrigation services aren’t a one-time thing-- don’t let your customers become one either.

Send a post-service survey

Show your customers you care by letting them give you feedback in the form of a post-service survey. Make sure to ask them which of your services they may be interested in the future, as well as to rank you on things like your customer service, price, quality of service, and overall experience. When customers know you care about their satisfaction and are willing to make changes to give them the best possible experience, they will feel more inclined to keep returning.
