Track shop time.

Have your staff clock in every time they are in the shop so you are able to easily calculate hours for payroll. If you don’t already have an electronic time-keeping system, it is strongly recommended as a way to keep the most accurate records. Without an electronic time-keeping system, you can lose the paper records and save the time that would be spent clocking in and out and subtracting and adding and feeling frustrated. Save time and the frustration that comes with old methods of time keeping and trade them for a simple system that does the work for you.

Use software to send job info to field techs/crews.

You wish your aunt happy birthday via Facebook, you plan get-togethers in a group message—heck, sometimes you even tweet at your kids instead of talking to them because they’ll actually respond! You use technology at home and in every day life, so why not bring your office up to speed? Software allows you to update employees on job info instantly, saving both time and a trip into the office. Of course, it’s always important to have strong personal communication with employees, but when it comes to saving time and adding convenience, electronically sending job info is the way to go. By electronically sending the information, employees have a hard copy to reference and are able to instantly access updates as they are made

Have your parts delivered to your techs/crews instead of having them come to the office.

Think of it this way: you are going on vacation to Hawaii. You are looking at plane tickets and trying to decide between two equally priced options. The first is a flight with a layover. The second is a non-stop flight. In many cases, you’d pick the direct flight. Think the same way about delivering your parts. Why have them delivered to the office when they are ultimately going to be with the tech and crew? Save yourself time, effort, and having lifting by cutting out the unnecessary delivery! In other words, go straight to Hawaii!

Direct deposit paychecks so employees don't need to come into the office.

A sure time saver and convenience for both employers and employees alike is direct deposit. Direct deposit is a system that allows checks to automatically deposit into the savings or checking account of employees, which gives employees the peace of mind that comes with knowing exactly when and where they can find their paycheck. Save time by allowing your employees to sign up for direct deposit as soon as they are hired. This not only saves time for employees who no longer have to come in to the office to grab their checks on their day off, but also for employers who don’t have the hassle of handing out checks.
